Campus Report

COVID-19 Update: March 22, 9:30 p.m.

Office of Communications
March 22, 2020

Dear Kenyon College community,

Today, Governor DeWine issued a stay-at-home order restricting non-essential activities in the state, starting Monday, March 23, at 11:59 p.m. Please take time to read the order in full

What does this mean for Kenyon? The order allows educational institutions to continue to provide essential services, including providing for the students who remain on campus, facilitating remote instruction and performing critical research, provided that we adhere to recommended physical distancing and hygiene protocols. Much of the work of the College can and should continue to be performed remotely. Employees who are in departments that provide essential on-campus services should speak with their supervisor regarding their schedules.

This latest directive will inevitably raise new questions — what functions can be done only on campus, are they essential, and what allowances can we make for non-essential services while still adhering to the principle of minimizing the number of people on campus? We will work through these and other details, and provide more information tomorrow.

These are unprecedented times and we are fortunate to be able to draw on the strength of our community to navigate them.
