COVID-19 Update: Spring Events

Office of Communications
March 31, 2020

Dear Kenyon College community,

Every year, Kenyon College is proud to recognize students who have achieved academic excellence, demonstrated special talents, and shown outstanding commitment to service on campus or in the larger community at our Honors Day ceremony. Despite our distance, we plan to honor our students as planned with a ceremony viewable on Livestream on Tuesday, April 14, at 11:10 a.m. EDT, or at a later time at your convenience. And while we cannot all gather in Rosse Hall as is our tradition, celebrating the achievements of our students will remain the centerpiece of this special occasion.

Kenyon also has made the difficult decision to postpone our 192nd Commencement ceremony, originally scheduled for May 16. While we recognize the importance of ritual in marking life transitions and tradition in strengthening the fabric of community, planning for a large scale event in May would be both impossible and irresponsible, given current projections for the COVID-19 crisis. We are actively working with the senior class on plans to confer their degrees from afar at the start of the summer and to celebrate their Commencement on campus at a later date. We look forward to sharing those plans as they take shape. In the meantime, we have closed the registration form for new reservations and will continue to honor cancellations and issue refunds. Please visit our Commencement page for details.
