I joined the Admissions family at Kenyon after a two-year gig as a College Advisor with the Virginia College Advising Corps, where I worked with low-income students at an underfunded, rural high school in southwest Virginia. When I’m not talking with students and parents about how much I love Kenyon, I can be found hiking through the Brown Family Environmental Center, going on road trips across the Midwest, and watching lots of Buffy and 30 Rock in the colder months.
Let me start by saying CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ACCEPTANCE TO KENYON! Now it’s time to figure out which wonderful college you’ll be attending for the next four years. One of the best ways to do this is by visiting (or revisiting) your top schools. But when — and to where — should you pack your suitcase and hit the road?
Most of us are now back in the office from travel season. Now that I'm back in Gambier, I get to take advantage of all the things I missed about being home on the Hill.
Staying on campus beyond the tour and information session allows you to meet more students and faculty, and you’ll have more time to consider the question: “Will I be happy here for four years?”
It’s hard to believe travel season has started already, but you can tell that it is underway by the flurry of postcards being sent to prospective students and by the last-minute hotel and rental car booking by all of us admissions officers.
