2020-21 Update: Special request forms available
Dear Kenyon students and families,
We were pleased that so many of you could join us for the open forum with President Decatur on Wednesday. Thank you for the many thoughtful questions submitted in advance, through the online form and in the chat of the livestream — we received literally hundreds. Our teams are working now to respond directly to those who submitted a question, and we will consolidate and publish answers on our website next week. The communications office will email you when they are posted.
Many of the questions pertain to the process for electing an alternative plan of study: studying remotely rather than in person, petitioning to be on campus during your remote semester, delaying your entrance, or taking time off from Kenyon. We have posted additional information along with the request forms on our website. You may also reach out to Dean of Students Robin Hart Ruthenbeck or Dean of Academic Advising and Support Thomas Hawks to explore your options. While there is no deadline at Kenyon for requesting a leave of absence for a semester or the full year, we ask that students who wish to pursue one of the other options to submit their request by July 31, 2020. Having this information will help us plan better for how many students can be accommodated in residence for the fall semester.
We recognize the extraordinary challenges the changing circumstances present, and appreciate your continued patience and flexibility as we pivot to a new model for the fall. To the greatest extent possible, we are committed to facilitating your ability to have a safe, healthy and rewarding semester.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Bowman
