Quintessential Kenyon: Student Life, Uncut

Celebrating the Class of 2020 - May 29 at 7 p.m. EDT

Dear members of the Kenyon College Class of 2020,

We have had to make many difficult decisions in response to the COVID-19 crisis; postponing your in-person Commencement ceremony was among the hardest. You have accomplished much in your four years at Kenyon, and more in these last seven weeks than any of us could have imagined. While we look forward to when we can have you back to campus to join in the rituals and traditions that have been the hallmark of a Kenyon education for generations, we are thrilled to be able to celebrate you and all that you have achieved now.

Please join us online Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m. EDT for a special Class of 2020 Senior Celebration (the recording also will be available for later viewing). The program will be a mix of formal moments and special surprises, including remarks from Assistant Professor of Sociology Austin Johnson, who was to deliver this year’s Baccalaureate address, as well as a message from Senior Class President Jodi-Ann Wang, who, together with many of you, helped shape the program. This celebration is not meant to replace your in-person Commencement ceremony, but it does mark an important moment, including the announcing of degrees — the point at which students officially become graduates.

For information about regalia and other commemorative items, please visit our website, which will continue to be updated in the coming weeks.

We hope that you will join us for this historic occasion, as we celebrate you, the Class of 2020.
