My Happy Place

The Land Trust Alliance is celebrating Earth Day by encouraging people to share how land is one’s happy place. I thought I would share one of many happy places for me. This is a picture from the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness in the Payette National Forest in Central Idaho. I spent the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college clearing trails and backpacking within the wilderness. The time I spent in the Frank helped me push myself physically and mentally. Its remoteness provided a fitting environment for serious introspection and helped me clarify my outlook on life.

I hope that this Earth Day people will reflect on the land that has made an impact in their life, and be thankful of the organizations that have helped facilitate the preservation of such land.
