Quintessential Kenyon: Student Life, Uncut

Olubusola "Busola" Olukoya

Class of 2015
Major  —  Neuroscience
Hometown  —  Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria. (But I've lived in Lagos, Nigeria all my life.)

The correct pronunciation of my name sounds like an exclamation; "Busola!" -- but don't sound like you're surprised. "Oluwabusiolawa" God has given us wealth; say it with meaning. Re-mi-mi-do-mi-do-mi-mi, like a song. The correct pronunciation of my name requires confidence and familiarity. You have to sound like you know what you're saying. And it helps to practice by throwing the sounds up a flight of stairs that lead up to someplace you don't know.  That's where I am right now, going somewhere new, with a song perpetually on my lips, finding meanings in the most disconnected occurrences and trying to look like I know exactly what I'm doing.

This is the story of how I got free Chipotle today for attending a public screening of Machuca in Higley Auditorium.

I really didn't want to eat at Peirce Hall this evening because its Easter Monday, and I'm all for celebrating in excess. So, I was very pleased to receive an email today about how I could get a free Chipotle Burrito if I came to see a movie about class differences in the short-lived socialist government in Chile. First of all, I love love love Chipotle! And secondly, a free dinner and a show?? They had me at hello!! (That rhymes! Haha!)

Read on for all the juicy juicy deets!

This is the tale of how I ended up not posting for the entire month of February. It was a bright sunny Thursday, right after my first basketball game where the Kenyon Lords beat Hiram College by 8 points. I was still reeling from the excitement (more like adrenaline rush) of the game and I had the bright idea to do something new on this blog. I figured that everyone was getting tired of reading about my boring – and sometimes almost tragic (Calculus II, why??) – life at Kenyon. So, I decided to interview the Basketball team...
