Quintessential Kenyon: Student Life, Uncut

Hello! I'm Andrew. I am the captain of the Soccer team, a campus tour guide, on student council, and work in a research lab. You can find me playing pickup basketball, being a fan at a sporting event, hanging out with my friends, and eating.  If you were to ask my apartment-mates, they would probably tell you I can be found in the library or the science quad. Either way, I love Kenyon and hopefully you enjoy my take on things.

Coming Home

By Andrew Parmelee on August 6, 2013

After spending a summer at Kenyon, I have arrived home.... for 12 days. Home is certainly a place you look forward to when at college. The cooking, the cable, and the dog are just a few of the things I enjoy when I arrive back. Breaks are essential to mental health in college, so how the heck do you get back from Kenyon. I put this undeniable picture of Josie up in order to ensure you read my blog.

WOW. She is cute.

Meet a Swimmer

By Andrew Parmelee on July 8, 2013

I recently hurt my hamstring playing soccer so currently I cannot run…… BUT I CAN SWIM and Kenyon is a great place to go swimming!!! Here is a professional picture of the KAC pool. I decided this would do it more justice than a picture taken with iPhone. This also got me thinking……… what is it like to be a legendary Kenyon swimmer? So I interviewed Dru, my apartment mate and a member of the much loved Ladies swim team.

Manduca Manduca Manduca

By Andrew Parmelee on June 23, 2013

Manduca sexta larva more commonly known as the the Tobacco Horn Worm is used as a model organism here at Kenyon College. It is studied by Professor Itigaki, Kerkhoff and Gillen mostly, in order to better understand areas of their desired research. I currently am using these organisms, which grow 10,000 fold in size from their hatching to pupating stages, to study gut protein function. One of the senior Manducas decided to experience Kenyon life outside the lab on a Saturday evening earlier this summer.
